Vacationers come from everywhere to experience one of the nicest beaches in the world. Siesta Key beach stretches from the north end of the island by Siesta Key Village all the way down Point of Rocks. It is a great beach to walk along and joggers will find it long enough for a good run. Harvard University's geology department found the sand of Siesta Key beach was 99% pure quartz. The sand is pure white and finer in texture than most other beaches that are made up of crushed shells or rocks. Siesta Key beach was chosen as “Best Overall” in the "1987 International Sand Contest", “Best Sand Beach in America 2008” by the Travel Channel and rated the 2nd best beach in the America in 2009 by Dr. Beach (Dr. Stephen Leatherman). A gorgeous beach in addition to clear azure waters of the Gulf of Mexico make Siesta Key a fabulous place to vacation or live.
Siesta Key Lifestyle
Everything about Siesta Key reflects a laid back, non pretentious island lifetstyle. People from all walks of life vacation, enjoy and live on the island. It is not uncommon to see a family enjoy a swim in the Gulf of Mexico in the morning, have lunch in their flip flops and bathing suits in one of Siesta Key Villages outdoor restaurants, relax on the beach in the afternoon and then get showered and dressed up for one of Siesta Key's or Sarasota's fine dining establishments. The great thing about Siesta Key is that you live how want and no one will tell you otherwise.
The island is very pedestrian and bike friendly. It is very easy to stroll through Siesta Key village and enjoy the side walk cafe's, ice cream shops, spa's, bars and shopping. Wander through the village and you can't help to notice the smiles. Visitors and residents of Siesta Key are noticeably happy.
